Privacy Policy

Jaunt turns the travel videos you've saved into a planned trip. We built it privacy-first: the videos you share into Jaunt are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us. This policy explains exactly what stays on your phone, what is sent to a server, and why.

What stays on your device

• The videos you share in. When you share a video into Jaunt, the audio is transcribed and the on-screen and spoken place names are extracted by a model that runs locally on your phone. The video file itself is never sent to Jaunt or any third party.
• Your trips. Trips, pins, dates, and notes are stored locally on your device until you choose to share or publish them.

What is sent to a server, and only when you act

• Place lookups. To place a pin on the map, the place name or a map coordinate is sent to open mapping services (Photon/OpenStreetMap and Google Places) to find its location and details. These requests contain place names and coordinates, not your videos or identity.
• Routing. To order a day and estimate travel time, the coordinates of your pins are sent to an open routing service (OSRM).
• Sharing & collaboration. If you create a share link, export a trip, publish a public guide, or collaborate, the relevant trip data (place names, locations, dates, notes, reactions) is stored in our backend (Supabase) so others can open it. Anyone with the link can view it; viewers do not need an account.
• Model downloads. The on-device models are downloaded over Wi-Fi from a public file host the first time they are needed.

Accounts

You can use Jaunt without an account. If you choose to sign in (to sync or manage what you've published), we support Sign in with Apple and Google. We receive only the basic profile information those providers return.

Permissions we may request

• Location — to show where you are on the map. Used only while you're using the app.
• Photos / media — to import a video you share in and to save a boarding-pass image you export.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data.
• We don't show third-party ads or use advertising trackers.
• We don't upload the videos you process on your device.

Data retention & deletion

Locally stored trips are removed when you delete them or uninstall the app. Content you've published or shared can be deleted from within the app, or by contacting us and we will remove it.

Children

Jaunt is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll revise the date above when we do.
